Our gas and propane services cover three jobs: underground propane tanks, above-ground propane tanks and gas lines to a standby generator or the house. The work runs under our gas contractor license #24513, which covers propane and natural gas, and we pull the permit and arrange the inspection.

What we install
The gas and propane services we offer
Three kinds of job, usually connected to each other and often to a standby generator.
Underground propane tanks
The tank is buried in the yard and only a low access dome shows above the lawn, which can suit tidy yards and associations that limit visible equipment. See propane tank installation for sizing and placement.
Above-ground propane tanks
The tank sits on a level base in a side or back yard, with less digging than a buried tank. Its position still has to meet code clearances and pass the municipality's permit review.
Gas line runs
The line from a propane tank or natural-gas meter to the generator or the house, including the regulators and connection points. The gas line installation page covers sizing and cost factors.

Gas and propane for a standby generator
The standby generators we install run on natural gas or propane. If the house already has natural gas, the job is usually a line from the meter to the generator pad. The existing meter may need an upgrade by the gas utility to carry the generator's load; that is the utility's decision, not ours.
If there is no gas at the house, we quote a propane tank sized for the runtime you want, plus the line, the regulators and the connection at the generator. One license, both fuels
A licensed gas contractor for propane and natural gas
Alternate Power Solutions, based in West Palm Beach, is a division of Static Electric Company, a family-owned business founded in 1986. Gas work runs under our Licensed Gas Contractor number, #24513, which covers both propane (LP) and natural gas. The electrical side of a generator job runs under our State Certified Electrical Contractor license, EC13002031.
We pull the gas permit and arrange the inspection ourselves, so you are not left coordinating with the building department. Where a propane tank can sit is settled in the permit review: clearances from the house, windows and doors, property lines and sources of ignition are set by NFPA 58 and your local authority.

Scoping the job
We work out where a tank or line could go, what the gas needs to feed, the route to the generator or appliance and anything that affects access.

Written estimate and scope
You get a written estimate for the job that sets out the tank, the line, the regulators and connections, and what is not included, such as the propane itself.

Permit
We apply for the gas permit. Placement is subject to the municipality's review, and how long that takes depends on the jurisdiction and the job.

Install, inspection, first fill
The tank and line are installed and inspected. The fill is not part of the installation price; the office can coordinate the first fill with a propane supplier.
Outside our scope
What our gas work does not include
We keep to tanks and lines. These fall outside that:
- Propane delivery and refills. For a refill, call your propane supplier.
- Leak detection and standalone pressure testing. If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas utility or propane supplier, or 911, from outside.
- Installing gas appliances. We can run a line to a new pool heater or range location; the appliance is installed by its supplier or installer.
- Natural-gas conversions and tank monitoring. Neither is a service we offer.
Getting started
How an inquiry works
Call the office Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm Eastern. Weekend calls are answered by the team from 8am to 7pm; outside those hours a receptionist takes your message. Tank and line work is planned work, and we do not dispatch after hours for it.
It helps to tell us the property address, whether the house has natural gas, what the gas needs to feed and any homeowners' association rules you know of. The only thing you need to arrange for the work itself is access. We serve Palm Beach County, Martin County and St. Lucie County; check the confirmed towns. Ask about an estimate once you know what the gas needs to feed.

What people ask before they call.
Do you deliver or refill propane?
No. We install tanks and run gas lines; we do not deliver propane or refill tanks. For refills, call your propane supplier. When we install a new tank, the price covers supplying and installing it but not the propane, and the office can coordinate the first fill with a supplier.
Are you a licensed gas contractor?
Yes. If you are comparing propane contractors, ask each one for its license number. Ours is Licensed Gas Contractor #24513, which covers propane (LP) and natural gas. The gas permit for your job is pulled under that number and the work is inspected.
Who handles the permit and inspection?
We do. Alternate Power Solutions pulls the gas permit and arranges the inspection in-house. A propane tank's position is subject to the municipality's permit review, so the final spot has to satisfy the code and the local authority, not just look right in the yard.
Can you install my new gas range or pool heater?
We can run the gas line to the new appliance location and leave a connection point, but we do not install gas appliances. The appliance itself is installed by its supplier or installer. Tell us which appliance it is and where it will sit, so the line can be sized for its load.
Do I need a propane tank if I already have natural gas?
Usually not. If natural gas is already at the house, a standby generator can normally run from it with a line from the meter. The meter may need an upgrade by the gas utility to supply the extra load, which is the utility's call. Where there is no natural gas, a propane tank sized for the runtime you want is the alternative.
How long does a tank or gas line job take?
It depends on the job and on the permit. Permit review times vary between municipalities, and an association approval, if you need one, runs on its own schedule. We would rather not promise a date we do not control; the written estimate sets out the steps involved.
